Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday claimed that the future of the Telangana state would be decided in the Parliament, and not by the State Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, Vikramarka said that the Centre would only seek the views of MLAs, by sending the Telangana Bill to the Assembly.
However, the outcome of the Assembly would have no impact on the Telangana decision, he told the reporters.
He added that it will be in the Parliament where the Telangana Bill will be introduced, debated and passed.
The Centre will decide when the Telangana Bill should be sent to the Assembly, he stated.
Earlier, Vikramarka, along with other senior leaders including K Jana Reddy, Ramreddy Venkat Reddy, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Balram Naik, participated in a meeting at the residence of Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy. (INN)
