On day 2 of the 48-hour Telangana bandh called by the TRS and the Telangana JAC, the Osmania University campus saw more violence.
Youth at the Osmania campus were holding protests demanding that ministers who haven't yet resigned to show their support for a separate Telangana do so immediately, but police were trying to stop them since they were violating the Section 144 that was in place in Hyderabad.
Police fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets at the agitators, who in turn pelted stones at the police.
when JAC leader Prof. Kodandaram attempted to enter the campus in the midst of all the hubbub, he and other members of the JAC were taken into custody by the police, who took them to the Kanchanbagh police station.
Kodandaram and the other JAC members were released by the police late evening.
Also, today, members of the Telangana TDP Forum attempted to picket the Raj Bhavan but were arrested and taken to the Punjagutta police station.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi President K Chandrasekhara Rao has thanked his supporters and the public for making the bandh a success. He exhorted students to make the planned Telangana-wide rally on July 7 a success as well.
