The Telangana Assembly's monsoon session which began today will be conducted for 18 days till September 28.
This was decided in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held today.
The house would have four holidays, on September 12, 13, 20 and 27, the BAC decided.
It also decided to include a 1-hour question hour and half-an-hour for zero hour in the house due to coronavirus protocols.
The meeting saw arguments on the temporary removal of the media point during the session.
Leader of Opposition Bhatti Vikramarka sought to know why the government had taken a decision to remove the media point.
"It will deprive the opposition parties of an important forum to express their views and opinion, and register protests on key issues," Vikramarka said in the meeting.
Reacting to this, KCR slammed the Congress leader, saying that given the coronavirus scare having the media point was barely a risk worth taking. This resulted in an argument between the two leaders on the issue.
"It is the house that is needed to deal with the agenda items and issues concerning the public good, and not the media point," KCR asserted. "The opposition parties will get time as per the agenda to talk on the issues."
The CM also sought the cooperation of the opposition parties for the smooth and fair conduct of the house. "The house will discuss a revenue bill on the 10th and 11th, and pass it, besides moving a resolution in favour of Bharat Ratna for P V Narsimha Rao. These are important, and the co-operation of the opposition parties will greatly help the proceedings," he said.
He said that the house would take up many other key issues and welfare programs, too.
Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy chaired the meeting, which was attended by Leader of the House K Chandrashekar Rao, Assembly Affairs Minister V Prashanth Reddy, Leader of Opposition Bharti Vikramarka and others.
