"Stick To 28 Dec For All-Party Meet At All Cost"
"The matter has been dragged on for too long as it is, and anymore postponement would appear as intentional prevarication to the people."
Hyderabad | 10th December 2012
With rumours of the postponement of the Telangana all-party meet floating around, several Telagana MPs have taken it upon themselves to ensure that the meeting takes place on the same day that it announced to be on.
So, on Monday, they hightailed it to meet Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to reiterate their insistence on the meeting being held on the 28th of this month, under any circumstances, and the work on making Telangana a possibility should start as soon as possible.
They are of the opinion that the matter has been dragged on for too long as it is, and anymore postponement would appear as intentional prevarication to the people.
The issue came up when the CM first requested that the date be moved to sometime during the 1st week of January, as it clashed with the World Telugu Conference at Tirupati where his presence was mandatory.
In reply to the request, Shinde is known to have said that he would consider shifting the date if all involved parties are agreeable. But, as of now, he claims to have no intention of pushing it back.
CM requested postponement due to World Telugu Conference at tirupati. CM says what's the harm in postponing it by a week, and keeping it in the first week of Jan.
Due to rumours of postponement, T-cong MPs have gone to meet Shinde to tell him the the meeting should not be postponed under any circumstances. Shinde said today that if all perties are OK with it, he'll think about changing the date, but until then, there is no change in status quo.
T-Cong MPs also asked that only one MP be sent from each party to the all-party meet. The whole excercise becomes meaningless when there are two people of different opinions from one party. All parties should confirm their stand and finalize their arguments, and send one person, who is firm in his/her ideas, to the meeting, said the MPs.
