Hyderabad | 9th January 2011
Demanding withdrawal of central paramilitary forces from the Telangana region, the students in Joint Action Committee of Kakatiya University staged a massive rally on the campus on Sunday.

Raising slogans against the state government and Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, the JAC students condemned police action on the Osmania University campus, and demanded immediate withdrawal of forces from Telangana region.

The JAC students also entered into heated argument with police.

Sensing trouble, the police resorted to lathicharge and in the melee, 3 students suffered injuries.

The students demanded that 52 Congress MLAs from Telangana region submit resignations to their posts to mount pressure on centre to introduce a Telangana bill in Parliament during the forthcoming budget session.

The students threatened to intensify their protests if the government failed to withdraw the forces.

The students said that they would picket the residences of ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs in the Telangana region until the centre introduced a bill in Parliament, and withdraw forces from Telangana region.

They also demanded that the government lift restrictions on media coverage imposed by police after the submission of Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report to the centre.
