Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Convener Professor Kodandaram on Saturday cautioned the government that any attempt to suppress the legitimate desires of the people Telangana through the use of force would result in the agitation intensifying.
Talking to media persons at the TPJAC office at Adarsh Nagar, Prof. Kodandaram criticized the state government for seeking paramilitary forces from the centre to curb a possible violent backlash in the aftermath of the submission of the Srikrishna Commission's report.
He said that the move is tantamount to admitting that the administration has admitted failure and was seeking help from the Centre.
The Telangana ideologue demanded that the state and union governments withdraw the security forces deployed at Osmania University and other campuses in the region, apart from other areas.
He said that the government, which has "inadvertently admitted its failure", should now at least wake up to the people's aspirations and ensure that an environment is created wherein the bifurcation of the state takes place amidst peace and brotherhood.
Prof. Kodandaram further said that political leaders across the spectrum should make their stand on the separate statehood issue clear before the submission of the Srikrishna Panel's Report.
Later, Telangana RTC Joint Action Committee Chairman Anand gave a call to all union leaders to take part in the Telangana RTC employee's agitation call program on Tuesday at Sundara Vignan Kendra and make it a success.
