Telangana TDP Working President A Revanth Reddy today urged the State Assembly Speaker to take a decision on the disqualification petition filed against TDP MLAs, who had defected to the ruling Party on time as directed by the Hyderabad High Court.
In a letter to the Speaker, Revanth Reddy warned that he would approach the Court if the former failed to take a decision before the end of the period as directed by the High Court.
The High Court had directed the Speaker on September 21 to dispose off the petition within three months, ending on December 20. Twelve TDP MLAs, including minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav defected to the ruling TRS party. He also alleged that the Speaker erred by allowing the merger of TDP MLAs with the ruling Party without deciding the disqualification petition pending before him.
In the letter, Reddy stated, "As Speaker, you not only have the responsibility of upkeep the nation's Constitution, but also to discharge functions as per the Constitution, failing which, your action would be viewed as interfering with administration of justice.
