Suspecting that there was something fishy about only one company bagging the pipe-laying works as part of the CPSW scheme, senior Telugu Desam Party leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu on Saturday urged Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to ensure that the tender process to lay pipelines be cancelled and fresh tenders were called for.
Speaking to media persons at the TDLP on Saturday, Muddukrishnama Naidu also demanded that the winter session of the state Assembly should be of 15-day duration. He said that the Business Affairs Committee should insist on a 15-day session since the state was beset with 30 major issues which had to be discussed in the House.
Muddukrishnama Naidu said that tenders had been called for the pipe-laying works worth Rs. 200 crore in Allavaram, Amalapuram and Uppalguptham mandals in East Godavari. He said that one certain company had bagged the project bypassing the tender norms.
Reminding Kiran Reddy that he, in his capacity as Assembly Speaker, was well aware of the many scams which had rocked the state ever since the Congress government had taken charge in 2004 and again in 2009, Muddukrishnama Naidu said that Kiran Reddy should now act to recover the public money misappropriated by unscrupulous persons.
The senior TDP leader said that the lands belonging to the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) had been awarded to groups like Emaar Properties.
He added that Kiran Reddy was well aware of the many corruption allegations against the government since he had listened to the debates in the Assembly in his capacity as the Speaker. Muddukrishnama Naidu said that Kiran Reddy might have been powerless when he was the Speaker, but now could act since he was the Chief Minister.
The senior TDP leader also reminded Kiran Reddy of the many scams which had rocked the state, and demanded that KKR now take concrete action against the guilty in the TTD Arjita Seva tickets scam and the Jalayagnam irrigation project scam.
