Hyderabad | 13th March 2017
Reacting to the 2017-18 Telangana budget, Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy termed it as a "capitalists' budget".
Talking to the media on the Assembly premises, Reddy said that the state government had not given due emphasis to protecting the interests of farmers. Only Rs. 4,000 crores had been earmarked for the waiving off of the loans of the farmers while Rs. 11,000 crores would be required for the purpose.
He demanded the waiving off of the remaining loans of the farmers in one go.
Referring to allocation of funds for fee reimbursement to students, the TDP leader remarked that the government had allocated merely Rs. 1,900 crores as against the required Rs. 4,300 crores.
He also pointed out that there was no fund allocation for the double bedroom houses as also no distribution of lands to STs.
Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, who were suspended by the Speaker for the rest of the session the other day, stood under the hot sun in front of the Assembly building and staged a protest. Though another TTDP MLA R Krishnaiah was not suspended from the house, he did not enter the Assembly, and remained in the TDLP office in solidarity with the suspended MLAs.
The TTDP leaders said that they would go to the "people's court" to protest the injustice meted out to them by the government.
