In a tirade against the state government for the
police raid at Paritala Sunitha's home, the Telugu Desam Party said the raids were a conspiracy of the government and "certain unseen forces".
Mahabubnagar MLA Revanth Reddy and Guntur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar addressed a press conference at the TDP office on Friday, accusing the police of harassing a woman legislator.
Paritala Sunitha, who is the TDP MLA of Raptadu in Anantapur district, is the widow of the late TDP MLA Paritala Ravi. Her son, Sriram, has been implicated in an "attempt to murder" case against Congress leader Kamireddy Sudhakar Reddy.
Dhulipalla said the party has written to the Assembly Speaker, asking for security for Sunitha, and has also demanded that action be taken upon the policemen who conducted the raid on her house.
He said that that Sriram was falsely implicated in the attempt-to-murder case. Revanth Reddy said it is the government that must be behind bars, and not Sriram. He added that policewomen should have been present when Sunitha's house was being raided, but that there was none on the scene. He accused the cops of harassing Sunitha, and demanded action against them.
