Telugu Desam Party leaders, including MPs from Andhra Pradesh Konakalla Narayana and Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), and MLA Malyadri today complained to the Election Commission against YSR Congress Party chief Jaganmohan Reddy for the latter making provocative comments against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his campaign for the Nandyal by-election.
They submitted a memorandum to Additional Chief Electoral Officer Anoop Singh at the Secretariat and urged him to act swiftly against Reddy for his "atrocious" remarks against the Chief Minister.
They alleged that Jagan was violating the election code by freely distributing money to woo voters, and misusing his newspaper and TV channel. Besides, his media companies were indulging in a misinformation campaign against Naidu and publicizing the YSR Congress Party, they said.
They also alleged that the YSRCP candidate who was contesting the Nandyal by-election was freely distributing money.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that he would send the complaint to the Chief Election Commission and that action would be initiated.
