A delegation of the MPs of the DMK from Tamil Nadu today urged the support of the Telangana government against the NEET being conducted by the Centre.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin recently opposed the Centre's proposal to conduct NEET without the consent of the states.
Stalin sought support from various states including Telangana against NEET, and the team led by Elangovan and others today called on IT and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao in the city and gave a letter from Stalin to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao demanding cancellation of NEET, to Rama Rao.
Later DMK MP Elangovan told press persons that the Centre was not taking the views of the states on conducting NEET, and demanded that the Centre cancel NEET.
"We oppose this attitude of the Centre of fighting with the states. The Centre is trying to loot the rights of the states, and we are not ready to accept that. We urged the Chief Minister of Telangana to support our cause, and K T Rama Rao has assured us of cooperation," the Tamil Nadu leader said.
