Condemning the attack led by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader T Harish Rao on the residence of Information and Public Relations Minister J Geetha Reddy on Andhra Pradesh Formation Day, former minister M Mareppa on Wednesday alleged that the TRS leaders had hatched a conspiracy against Dalits.
Talking to media persons at CLP Office, the former minister demanded an apology from Harish Rao for attacking the Dalit minister.
Mareppa also demanded that Chief Minister K Rosaiah declare that the disruptions created by TRS marked a 'black day' in the history of State celebrations. The former minister said that attacking a Minister's residence was condemnable, and reminded the TRS that such acts of vandalism would not help in the achievement of a separate Telangana state.
Mareppa stated that the minister had discharged her constitutional duty by participating in the Formation Day celebrations. He appealed to Chief Minister K Rosaiah to initiate action against the TRS leader for attacking the minister's residence.
The former minister also blamed the All India Congress Committee (AICC) for not recalling former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's services in the Congress Working Committee meeting held on Tuesday.
Mareppa also demanded to know why he was removed from the membership of the All India Congress Committee. He wondered if the AICC was targeting Dalit leaders in particular.
The former minister said that the AICC membership was given to Zilla Panchayat presidents and others without taking into account the fact that these people did not have much experience, nor had they contributed substantially to the party in terms of service.
