Telugu news channels ABN Andhra Jyothi and NTV are in a cat fight of sorts, with NTV having conducted a "sting" operation on spiritual guru Swami Swaroopananda, and ABN following it up with a sting on the aforementioned sting.
NTV alleged that Swaroopananda was illegally taking over government lands, a claim that it exposed by having its Bhakti TV (a channel under the same umbrella of media channels that owns NTV) representative interact with the swami in a sting operation.
NTV claims that the swami has admitted to his illegal activities to the channel openly, but ABN Andhra Jyothi has declared war on NTV by challenging all its claims. The swami has professed his innocence on ABN, and has accused NTV of bribing him into a shady deal that was then grossly misconstrued. The swami has also said that if he is indeed proved wrong he will give up his life.
Both channels have been conducting heated debates on the topic. ABN Andhra Jyothi, now smug over what it believes to be a moral triumph against corrupt journalism, is accusing NTV of being anti-Hindu. NTV, who has brought on people from as diverse walks of life as women's rights organizations, and holding passionate analyses on how Andhra Pradesh just doesn't punish its swamis enough as opposed to Tamil Nadu, is having to proclaim vociferously that it is not anti-Hindu.
