Former minister Sunitha Lakshma Reddy is likely to be the Congress candidate for the by-election to the Medak Lok Sabha constituency.
Sunitha's candidature was reportedly finalised by AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh, who arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Digvijay Singh held discussions with senior leaders including TPCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah, K Jana Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and other leaders on the candidate for the Medak by-polls. According to sources, the TPCC gave preference to Sunitha over Turpu Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy.
The by-election to the Medak Lok Sabha seat was necessitated as KCR, who had also won from the Gajwel Assembly constituency, became the Chief Minister of Telangana and resigned from the Lok Sabha seat. (INN)
