The State Legislative Assembly paid a rich tribute to the veteran freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji who passed away in the city on Friday.
Speaking on the condolence motion, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy described Bapuji as a role model for all the politicians as he dedicated his entire life for the welfare of poor and downtrodden people. He also agreed to establish a memorial and install Bapuji's statue at a prominent location in the city.
Earlier, Opposition Leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu recalled the services of Bapuji for the State, especially for the downtrodden masses. He said Bapuji served as a MLA, minister and Deputy Speaker with utmost honesty and dedication. He said Bapuji would remain a role model for all the leaders. He demanded that the State Government establish a memorial in his honour.
Paying a rich tribute, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy announced that Bapuji's last rites would be performed at the official level on Saturday.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi floor leader Etala Rajender said that formation of Telangana State was Bapuji's dream which remained unfulfilled. However, he said that the TRS would fulfill his wish of getting statehood for Telangana region. He said Bapuji supported every individual and movement for separate Telangana.
Transport Minister Botsa Satynarayana, YSR Congress party's YS Vijaya Lakshmi, TDP's Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Motkupalli Narasimhulu, TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao, BJP's E Lakshminarayana, CPI's Yadagiri Rao and indpenedent MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy also spoke on the condolence motion.
