Lashing out at the State government's lenient attitude towards inter-state river water dispute with Orissa over the construction of Polavaram Irrigation Project, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) politburo member K Yerrannaidu on Sunday expressed serious concern over the stalling of Vamsadhara 2nd phase works in Srikakulam district.
Talking to media persons, the senior TDP leader said if the government failed to complete the Vamsadhara project, the district would turn into desert soon.
Slamming the ministers Dharmana Prasad and Ponnala Lakshmaiah from the district for failing to protect the interests of farmers, particularly from Srikakulam, Yerrannaidu held both of them responsible for the crisis.
The senior TDP leader stated that the issue would not have arisen at all if those 2 ministers had taken an active interest in the issue.
Yerrannaidu accused the minister of neglecting the plight of the farmers who were suffering due to shortage of water. He alleged that the ministers had totally failed to take welfare measures in redressing their problems.
Due to the lenient attitude of State government, the Orissa government had started constructing Bagalatti Dam, even though a case was pending in court, the TDP leader stated.
