A stalker, along with his 2 friends, was manhandled and handed over to police, when he tried to throw acid on a 10th-standard girl at Amarchinta village, Atmakur mandal in the district.
According to sub-inspector Veerappa, the stalker, identified as auto-rickshaw driver Sattar (19), was harassing a 16-year-old 10th standard girl to accept his 'love' since the last 4 months.
The stalker's advances grew bolder with each passing day to the extent that he threatened to throw acid on the girl's face if she did not reciprocate his 'love'.
The victim finally mustered courage on Monday morning to inform her father Venkatesh regarding the advances by Sattar.
Venkatesh laid a trap and managed to lure Sattar and his accomplices Jaffar and Sridhar. Venkatesh and his relatives, along with his neighbours, soundly thrashed the offenders.
The accused were then handed over to police. The police registered cases under Sections 509 and 506 IPC against the 3 accused.
The accused are presently under police custody and will be produced in court.
