Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas on Thursday expressed the hope that the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee Report would offer a permanent solution to the contentious issue of the demand for the bifurcation of the state.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Srinivas said the committee report would suggest a solution to address the issue permanently and help in the development of the state.
He said that committee report was suggestive and offered recommendations. He also appealed to political party leaders and others not to make emotive statements on the controversial issue, thereby disturbing law and order.
The PCC chief added that the centre would take a positive and favourable decision on the report after consulting all concerned parties and leaders.
Reacting on the emotive statements of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao before the submission of Srikrishna Committee Report, the PCC chief said there was no need to comment on KCR's statements.
When asked to comment on the demands for withdrawal of central forces from the state, Srinivas said the forces were deployed as a precautionary measure, and maintenance of law and order was the responsibility of the state government.
He appealed to media and political parties to observe restraint before airing remarks on the bifurcation of state issue.
The PCC chief also sought to downplay 'Rythukosam', the farmer contact program launched by Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu, as another scheme taken up by the main Opposition party to garner political mileage.
