Special Powers To Governor Not Acceptable: Dy CM
Mahmood Ali said the Centre was trying to encroach upon the rights of Telangana by transferring the power over law & order in Hyderabad to the Governor.
Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali on Sunday announced that the Telangana government was gearing up to battle the Centre's decision to delegate special powers to the Telangana Governor in the joint capital of Greater Hyderabad.
Speaking to media persons, Mahmood Ali said that the Centre was trying to encroach upon the rights of Telangana by transferring the power over law & order in Hyderabad to the Governor.
He said that the State government would contest this move in a court of law, if required.
He demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to withdraw the decision immediately.
With regard to the Comprehensive Household Survey to be conducted on August 19, Mahmood Ali said that the survey would not only help the government in getting accurate statistics, it would also expose the irregularities committed by the previous governments.
He said that the government would take stern action against any officials found guilty of tampering with the figures or indulging in other irregularities.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the officials in conducting the survey.
The Deputy Chief Minister also assured that the benefits of the "Kalyana Lakshni" scheme, wherein the government would pay Rs 50,000 for the marriage of poor girls, would be extended to the minorities. (INN)
