Investigations into the petition filed by Shoaib Malik, moved on Thursday at the A P High Court requesting for his passport to be handed back immediately, have been completed on Friday. The judgement on the issue will be declared on Monday.
Shoaib Malik, saying that his ex-wife Ayesha Siddiqui took back all her complaints against him and that the issue has now been sorted out amicably, demanded that further holding his passport in police custody was unnecessary & illegal.
Also alleging that it was injuring his reputation, he requested that the passport be returned so he could leave for Sialkot, his hometown, to make arrangements for his reception in Pakistan.
The wedding reception organized at the Mirza residence on Thursday, the final leg of the marraige celebrations of the Hyderabadi tennis star Sania Mirza with Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, was a grand affair. Traditionally worn by Hyderabadi Muslim brides, the churidaar kurta with a 9-yard red and gold khara dupatta against a cream background that Sania was adorned in made her look resplendant. Husband Shaoib looked equally elegant in a cream sherwani.
The reception was attended by TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Amala-Nagarjuna and Venkatesh. It was, pointedly, missed by CM Rosaiah, top Muslim leaders in the city including MIM head Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Khans of Bollywood, and other tennis heroes and cricket titans, though around 1,000 invitations were reportedly sent to the nation's top names.
It is speculated that many refrained from the reception keeping in mind the ugly controversy prior to the wedding, the pending cases against Malik, and the presence of Pakistani dignitaries.
