Finally, the Centre today issued a gazette notification bifurcating the Hyderabad High Court between the two Telugu states.
According to informed sources, the two High Courts will start functioning from January 1, 2019, with the Centre allocating 10 judges to Telangana and 16 judges to Andhra Pradesh.
The Andhra Pradesh government had earlier communicated its readiness to start a High Court from the next month, and the Centre then took a final decision in this regard.
The bifurcation of the High Court thus finally becomes a reality after four-and-a-half years of the state's bifurcation and after Telangana going in for fresh Assembly elections.
Officials have collected preferences from 1,500 related officials and staff for allotment to one of the two High Courts. The staff to be divided include office subordinates, record assistants, drivers, operators and others.
