RDO Slaps Case Against Minister Parthasarathy
Secondary Education minister K Parthasarathy has been accused of concealing an Economic Offences case that was pending against him in his election affidavit filed in the 2009 Assembly polls.
The Vijayawada Revenue Divisional Officer, on Friday, registered a case against Secondary Education minister K Parthasarathy for concealing an Economic Offences case that was pending against him in his election affidavit filed in the 2009 Assembly polls.
The revenue officials of Penamaluru Assembly constituency filed the case, following directions from the Election Commission of India, Krishna District Collector and Returning Officer M Jyothy Budha Prasad. The case was against the minister in the First Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Vijayawada, under Sections 125A, Representation of People's Act 33, and IPC section 177.
It may be recalled that the Economic Offences court had sentenced Parthasarathy to two months of imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of Rs. 5.15 lakh on him in a case related to the violation of FERA in 1999. The minister paid the penalty, and approached the High court against imprisonment.
In his election affidavit, the minister did not mention the case pending against him in his affidavit filed before the Election Commission of India while contesting the 2009 Assembly polls. (INN)
