The State Government, on Saturday, accorded administrative sanction to upgrade 30 residential schools to "Intermediate" level. This will facilitate an additional 2400 students to seek admissions in the highly sought after AP Social Welfare Residential Schools.
Eight new residential schools with an estimated cost of Rs. 13 crores each, amounting to a total of Rs. 104 crores, are scheduled to be upgraded. The contract will be taken up through e-procurement and completed in a period of 18 months.
The administrative sanction has been issued for construction of 100 college hostel buildings (Indiramma Vidya Nilayams) for Scheduled Caste boys and girls in all districts, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.20 crores per building.
