The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the petition of former minister and Congress leader D K Aruna, who sought direction to the various state governments to provide a place for women in their cabinets.
In her petition, Aruna complained to the apex court that there were no woman ministers in seven states, including in Telangana.
The apex court rejected the petition saying that it was prerogative of the chief ministers of the concerned states. However, it opined that women should have been inducted into the cabinet voluntarily.
Aruna said that in view of the Supreme Court's opinion, KCR should induct woman members in his cabinet.
