Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao announced today that the Rythu Bharosa program would commence from the upcoming Sankranthi festival.
He said that the final modalities for the scheme's implementation were yet to be finalized.
The minister said that a cabinet sub-committee had been formed to determine the modalities for proper implementation, and that the sub-committee was preparing the framework after consulting several experts and farmers.
The sub-committee would gather input from members of the Assembly, too, he added.
He said that the guidelines would be established only after considering inputs from all stakeholders, and assured the farmers that the government had no intention of reducing the number of beneficiaries under the scheme.
"The previous administration introduced the Rythu Bandhu scheme during the 2017-18 period, providing Rs 4,000 per acre per season to farmers. This amount was subsequently increased to Rs 5,000 in 2018-19. Although the scheme's benefits were intended exclusively for active cultivators, discrepancies in its implementation led to numerous ineligible individuals receiving assistance. We are working to ensure that only genuinely deserving farmers get the benefit," he said.
