Right To Education Act Passed

According to the landmark Act, every child aged 6-14 years has the right to free and compulsory education
Hyderabad | 1st April 2010
The Right To Education (RTE) Act passed by the Union Government which will come into force from April 1, 2010, is said to be one of the most historical decisions taken by the country, as it joins the very few countries around the world to make education a fundamental right.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, K Rosaiah, requested the officials of the Panchayat Raj and School Education departments that are going to implement the Act, to make all the required arrangements to implement it fruitfully.

According to this Act, every child aged between 6 and 14 years will have the right to free and compulsory elementary education at a neighbouring school. The cost of the entire period will be borne by the Central and State government in a 65:35 ratio.

The Chief Minister also urged everyone to come forward and support the government's mission to ensure education for every child within the state.
