Revanth Reddy Wrecked Telangana Irrigation In Just 2 Months: BRS

T Harish Rao said that within just two months of the Congress coming to power, the State's irrigation projects had been taken over by the KMRB.
Hyderabad | 4th February 2024
Former minister and MLA T Harish Rao today participated in a meeting of BRS workers of the L B Nagar Assembly constituency.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that if Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stood by his word, he should implement the promises made to the people of the State and only then seek votes for the Lok Sabha elections.

He also said during the 10-year rule of the KCR government, despite all the pressure exerted by the Centre, the irrigation projects of the State government were not handed over to the Krishna River Management Board, but that within just two months of the Congress coming to power, the projects had been taken over by the KMRB.

"We put a condition that only 50% of the Krishna waters should be given. We also said that Srisailam should be recognised as a hydel project and only 20% of drinking water should be taken into account. However, within two months of the Congress coming into power, the projects have been handed over to the Centre," he said.

He also alleged that Revanth Reddy was spewing poison against the BRS because he did not have any way of defending what happened.

"Was it not the Congress that passed the bill to hand over the projects to the Centre at the time of the bifurcation of the State? Was it not your leaders Jaipal Reddy and Jairam Ramesh who prepared the separate Telangana bill? Revanth Reddy speaks petty words just trying to deflect attention from reality. And the truth is that he is bringing water problems to the State," Rao claimed.

He said that Hyderabad would have a drinking water problem if the projects were handed over to the Board, and that Khammam, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts would face problems with both irrigation waters and drinking water.

The former minister also said that Revanth Reddy did not have any right to talk about Potireddipadu. "Revanth Reddy, who was then in the TDP, did not respond on the Potireddypadu issue. His lips were closed. He should look at his past and speak," he said, and claimed that the BRS had fought hard in the Assembly against the project and froze the House for 30 days.

He also alleged that Revanth broke his word on his Rythu Bandhu, pension hike, free electricity and loan waiver promises.
