TPCC president Revanth Reddy today slammed the BJP government at the Centre for the disqualification of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha.
Speaking to media persons at his Jubilee Hills residence, Reddy pointed out that Gandhi had been given 30 days to appeal his sentence of two years prison by the Surat court, which had also suspended the sentence till then, but that the Centre had disqualified Gandhi despite that.
Reddy alleged that Gandhi was disqualified by the union government so promptly in order to prevent him from raising the issue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's friend Gautam Adani. He said that Gandhi had exposed the failures of the BJP government trenchantly during his recent Bharat Jodo Yatra, and that the BJP government was worried that he would make things worse for it.
He said that the country was witnessing unprecedented witch-hunting of Opposition leaders, and that this was basically an undeclared emergency, with Prime Minister Modi acting as a dictator.
