Revanth Reddy Issue Is Criminal Case: AP CEO
AP Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal said either the ACB or the police could file a case in the issue, and the EC would act only after the court's verdict.
In a new twist to the Revanth Reddy note-for-vote case that has beset the TDP and its leader and AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for the latter's alleged voice in the audio tapes in the case, Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal today stated said it was a criminal and corruption case.
When journalists met him at the Secretariat Thursday evening, Lal said that either the ACB or the police could file a case in this issue, and the Election Commission would take necessary action only after the court delivered its verdict.
"We have filed a memo in the court for a copy of the audio and video tapes submitted by the Forensic Science Lab," he said, adding that the cash row details were also sent to the ECI in Delhi.
The ACB has also urged the court for a copy of the audio and video tapes. After examining them, the ACB court is expected to take a call on Friday on whether it can give a copy each to the EC and the ACB.
It may be noted that the Election Commission had recently directed the ACB to investigate the cash episode to its logical end. (NSS)
