AP Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, in a quick move to ward off any more shocks from the Party's Telangana unit, has appointed Revanth Reddy as the TDP Floor Leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
Two senior TDP MLAs from Telangana, Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Prakash Goud, had inflicted a blow upon the Party by defecting to the TRS on Wednesday, rendering the Telangana unit of the party a sinking ship - 9 of its 15 Telangana MLAs have defected so far.
Speculations are rife that there are some more TDP leaders waiting in the wings to switch loyalties to the pink Party. Even Revanth Reddy's name figured among the possible fence-sitters, though he is a prime accused in the note-for-vote scam when he was caught red-handed allegedly handing over cash to nominated Anglo-Indian TRS MLA Elvis Stephenson.
Thus, true to the adage once bitten twice shy, Naidu seemed to want to avert another catastrophe by immediately entrusting the floor leadership to Reddy. A letter to this effect was handed over to the Assembly Speaker by TDP general secretary M Amarnath Babu.
