Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president A Revanth Reddy today filed a petition in the High Court alleging that Kodangal MLA P Narender Reddy of the TRS, who had defeated him in the recent Assembly elections, had committed several irregularities in the elections.
In his petition, Reddy said that officials of the income tax department had conducted raids on a farmhouse owned by Narender Reddy at Kosgi, and had seized Rs 51 lakh in cash and a diary containing details of expenditure of Rs 6.50 crores in the elections.
He said that the IT department had submitted a report to the Election Commission after the raids, and that the EC had declared that Rs 51 lakh was seized from the farmhouse of the MLA.
Revanth Reddy further said that Narender Reddy had told the EC officials that he had spent Rs 19 lakh after the elections.
Revanth Reddy also claimed that the TRS MLA had a petrol pump at Shahbad, and said that those who owned petrol pump licenses were not eligible to contest the Assembly elections as per the Election Commission rules. He said that Narender Reddy didn't mention the details about his petrol pump license when filing his nomination.
Revanth Reddy also alleged that the MLA had received foreign funds for his election expenses, which was completely banned by the EC. He said that Narender Reddy had himself mentioned in his election affidavit that he had received Rs 5 lakh from the US.
He urged the court to disqualify Narender Reddy immediately from the MLA post.
