Another accused in the Revanth Reddy note-for-vote case, Sattupally TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, was granted bail by the ACB Special Court on Tuesday.
Veeraiah, who was named Accused No 5 in the case, is the second TDP MLA to be implicated in the infamous scandal, which saw nominated Telangana Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson being lured with cash to vote in favour of the TDP nominee in the June 2 Telangana MLC elections.
Another TDP MLA, A Revanth Reddy, is the principal accused in the scam, in which two others were also arrested. All the accused are out on bail now.
The Sattupally MLA was originally served notices by the ACB for interrogation in connection with the case. However, the investigating authorities later charged him under certain penal sections and arrested him, after which the accused moved a bail petition in the ACB Special Judge's court.
The ACB Special Court granted Veeraiah bail on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakhs. He was also asked to surrender his passport, and was directed to confine himself to his constituency of Sattupally in the Khammam district.
Thus, while four of the five accused in the case were arrested and have managed to secure bail, another accused managed to secure a stay on his arrest. (NSS)
