Union Minister of State for Finance (Revenue) J D Seelam on Wednesday ruled out the possibilities of resigning over the statehood issue.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event held at the Federation Of Andhra Pradesh Chambers Of Commerce And Industries (FAPCCI), Seelam said that resignations would not prevent the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He added that Union ministers from the Seemandhra region can fight for a united Andhra Pradesh even while staying on in their posts.
Seelam said that the MPs would have no voice after they quit from their Lok Sabha seats. He maintained that although he is a supporter of Samaikhyandhra, he is also a loyal Congress worker.
The Union minister also appealed to taxpayers to pay their income tax voluntarily and thus facilitate the government's implementation of welfare schemes for the entire country, especially the poor. (INN)
