KCR Asked To Stop Action Against Erring Mutawallis
The CM expressed concern over Wakf Board Special Officer Shaik Mohammad Iqbal's action against the Mutawallis, and has agreed to look into the demands.
A delegation of the Association of Sajjadagan & Mutawallian on Wednesday called on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seeking to stop the action being taken by Wakf Board Special Officer Shaik Mohammad Iqbal against erring Mutawallis.
Speaking to media persons later, Syed Akbar Nizamuddin, the suspended Mutawalli of the Dargah Hazrath Shah Khamosh, said that the Chief Minister had been briefed about the action being taken by the Special Officer.
He claimed that the Chief Minister had expressed concern over the action of the Special Officer and the leakage of such information to the media.
The CM said that such actions would hurt the image of the Telangana government.
The delegation also demanded the re-constitution of the Wakf Board and certain amendments to the Central Wakf Act.
The Chief Minister assured he would look into the demands, Akbar Nizamuddin said.
Majlis-e-Ulema Deccan President Qubool Pasha Shattari, MIM MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri, former member of the Wakf Board Moulana Zaheeruddin Ali Sufi, Sunni United Forum President Moulana Syed Auliya Hussaini and other religious leaders were also part of the delegation. (INN)
