Union Minister for Minority Affairs Najma Heptullah has reportedly assured a CBI probe into the irregularities in the Wakf affairs in Telangana.
Heptullah has asked State Minorities Commission Chairman Abid Rasool Khan to submit a report on the affairs of the Wakf Board in order to order a CBI probe.
Khan had called upon the Union Minister and briefed her on the activities of the Commission and its findings, as also all the surveys conducted by the Commission.
The Chairman explained in detail the steps that the Commission had taken to protect Waqf properties, as also the steps being taken up by the Government of Telangana for the same.
He explained to the minister that the Commission had compiled a detailed report on illegal sales, transfers and leases, as also the grabbing, of Waqf properties.
The Chairman requested the Minister to order an CBI enquiry into the Waqf affairs based on the report of the Commission and on the other enquiries conducted by various departments. (INN)
