Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday ordered a high-level enquiry into the attack by Red Sander smugglers on Forest Department staff in Parveti Mandap Forest area of Tirupati in Chittoor district early this morning.
Two staff members of the Forest Department were killed, while 20 others were injured, when nearly 100 smugglers attacked the staff with stones. The smugglers also damaged two government vehicles.
Expressing shock over the Tirupati incident, the Chief Minister directed Principal Chief Conservator of Forests B S S Reddy to rush to the spot and ensure the best medical treatment to injured staff. He also ordered him to enquire into the incident and submit a report. He directed police officials to take stringent action against the offenders.
The Chief Minister extended condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families. (INN)
