RYK To Provide 15 Lakh Jobs: CM

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reiterated that the state government was committed to providing employment to 15 lakh youth in the next three years under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu program by honing their skills.

Interacting with local youth at a program in Palakollu in West Godavari district as part of Indiramma Baata, the CM said students must stand on their feet by making use government schemes and not waiting for government jobs. They must also aspire for higher positions in their careers based on their academic profile, he said.

Stating that nearly two lakh youth were employed in 6 months after initiating RYK, he said that the government has set a target of providing employment to 3.6 lakh youth by the end of this year.

The CM also said that his government was committed to the modernization of Krishna-Godavari basins.

The government would provide infrastructure facilities for fish and prawn culture with a cost of Rs. 220 crore, he said. He also said that the government plans to implement an agriculture modernization plan worth Rs. 2,500 crore. Plus, the government has decided to scrap VAT on palm oil, he said.

Stating that there was no threat to his government, he said that its tenure would continue till 2014. He expressed confidence that the Congress would win the 2014 elections both at the state and the Centre.

Responding to a question on whether he would accept the resignation of Roads & Buildings minister B Dharmana Prasad Rao, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that he was yet to take a decision on it.

Regarding the Comptroller & Auditor General's report on the allotment of coal blocks, he said that many states were reeling under a power crisis due to a shortage of coal. (INN)
