Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, on Tuesday, started a "Sadbhavana Yatra" in connection with the 69th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi.
The yatra, that began at Pandit Nehru's statue at Abids circle, passed by Dr. Ambedkar's statue at Tank Bund, and culminated at Rajiv Gandhi's statue at Somajiguda.
Talking to reporters after paying floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi, VHR said that certain divisive forces are trying to destablise the country, and that collective efforts should be made to maintain peace and calm across the country.
VHR said that the Nehru-Gandhi family has made several sacrifices for the country, and appealed to people to strengthen the leadership of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. (INN)
