Rafael Nadal, world tennis number one, inaugurated the Nadal Tennis School in Anantapur's Sports Village. Nadal's mother Ana Maria Parera, President of the Rafael Nadal foundation, had come to Anantapur from Bangalore, to visit the Academy.

The tennis school was set up in collaboration with Fundacion Vincente Ferrer (FVF), the Spanish arm of the Rural Development Trust (RDT), an NGO based in Anantapur.

The facility has 3 clay courts, and will be expanded, and hockey stars from Spain and Australia are expected to visit the RDT stadium.
