Serving Army jawans will now benefit with a sophisticated 'Project Dolphin', an online 'Pay Accounts' system inaugurated on Monday by Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), New Delhi, IDAS, Nand Kishore at Pay And Accounts Office (ORS) AOC Centre, Secunderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Nand Kishore said 'Dolphin' is totally based on in-house technology, and is available at a nominal cost. It was developed by the department using Open Source Software.
He said that an online pay account system for retired army officers will be made through a project 'Aashriya', which will be ready in a year.
The CGDA stated that that the department is serving 3.5 million customers, including retired officers, throughout the country.
Later, Nand Kishore inaugurated a new building, the Information Technology And Software Development Centre, in the premises.
Controller, IDAS, D B K Reddy welcomed the gathering and explained the role of Project Dolphin Pay Accounts Offices of Soldiers, and called upon employees to update their knowledge of new projects to achieve the goal of serving the Army effectively.
CCE (R&D) B Suresh Kumar and Addl. Controller Y Raja Reddy also spoke on the occasion.
