The grand finale celebrations, scheduled to continue until the 27th of December 2023, promise a diverse array of events.
The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet (HPS), today achieved a remarkable milestone by hosting President Droupadi Murmu as chief guest, along with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan as the guest of honour, for the inauguration of the grand finale of its centenary celebrations.
The other dignitaries included Minister for Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, Women & Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, and others.
The President also visited the HPS Museum - Echoes of Time - and congratulated the school on curating its history of 100 years.
The HPS Begumpet, renowned for producing global leaders recently, also rolled out its Vision 2050 for the future.
Sharing her thoughts on the centenary of the school, President Murmu said, "Many great personalities are alumni of this school. In 100 long years academic institutions face many challenges and learn from them. From all its experiences, the HPS empowers and equips the students to be strong decision-makers."
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said, "This institution has produced many stalwarts in many fields - from MPs and MLAs to leaders in banking, CAs and lawyers. In general, the school has produced students who have contributed to the development of the State and the country. I see MPs, Governors and leaders in the make among the students present here. The theme of the school is 'Be Vigilant', which sums up how a student and society should behave. Two great elements, academics and athletics, have been of importance at this school. The school has maintained that the students should concentrate not only on academics but also on sports. Sports and academic activities are the two eyes of academic institutions."
On the occasion, Gusti J Noria, president of the HPS Society, said, "We are honoured to have the President at The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, for our grand centenary. We hope and pray that this crescendo of excellence of our legacy institution will leave its footprints on the sands of time."

The highlights include the HPS Centenary Golf Tournament on 25th December, the HPS Carnival featuring vintage cars and super cars on the 25th and 26th of December, entrepreneurship summits, book reading sessions, panel discussions, a youth parliament, The Bartender (live in concert), a time capsule preserving 100 years of HPS memories (to be opened during the 125th anniversary of the school), a photography exhibition, an alumni and staff grand reunion and dinner, and a musical concert by Shankar Ehsan Loy on December 27 marking the conclusion of the year-long grand centenary celebrations.
