Vijayamma promises that YSRCP will complete the long-neglected Pranahita-Chevella project when the party comes into power.
YSR Congress party honorary President Y S Vijayamma reiterated, on Tuesday, that the party, after coming to power, would put the Pranahita-Chevella project on the top of the party's priorities list, and complete it at the earliest.
Addressing a gathering of people after sanctifying the pylon of the Pranahita-Chevella Project at Tummidihetti near Kaghaznagar, Vijayamma blamed the government for neglecting and delaying the project under some pretext or the other.
"Like any other welfare scheme that has been neglected by the present Congress government, this project is also languishing in the wings. Dr. Y S R launched the project aiming for the development of Telangana, and laid the foundation stone on December 16, 2008, but after his death, the project grew stagnant", she lamented.
She said that YSRCP is determined to complete the project, so that the agricultural needs of the Telangana area are adequately met.
"Party chief Jaganmohan Reddy also fervently wishes for the successful completion of the project. Recently, when I went to meet him and informed him of my visit to the project site, he wanted me to convey his determination to complete the project as soon as he comes to power," said Vijayamma, and was greeted with resounding cries of 'Jai Jagan' and 'Amar Rahe YSR'.
"When completed, the project will provide irrigation facilities to 1, 56, 000 acres of land in Telangana area", she said. She had earlier planted trees, and had garlanded the statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar near the pylon of the project. (INN)
