Veteran actor Prakash Raj announced today that he was resigning from the primary membership of the Movie Artists Association (MAA).
He however said that he had not taken the decision to resign from the membership of the association out of pain.
Speaking to media persons, he said that the voting in yesterday's MAA election (that he lost by a fairly big margin to Manchu Vishnu) had happened on the basis of regionalism. He added that he was unfortunate to have not been born a Telugu man, and that he had come to the industry as a guest and would remain a guest in the industry.
He said that he welcomed the victory of Vishnu, and also extended his greetings to all the elected members of Vishnu's panel. He asked Vishnu to fulfill all the promises made by him during his election campaign.
He also expressed satisfaction that the elections were held in a peaceful manner, and that more members of the association utilised their votes this year, showing that the association was regaining vibrancy.
He said that he was not regretting his decision to contest the MAA elections. He also said that he would stand by his words made during his campaign.
The versatile actor also said that he would continue to act in Telugu movies as usual, and that he would not mind acting with Vishnu, either.
