Electricity charges in the state will be increased to some extent from April 1.
Domestic users will have to pay 50 paise more per unit, and industries and commercial consumers, Rs 1 more per unit.
This was announced by ERC Chairman Sriranga Rao at a press conference.
Rao said that a rise in power tariff was coming after five years, and after a report recommended the same.
The official said that the department had approved bridging of Rs 14,237 crore of the Rs 16,000 crore revenue gap shown by the report. The rest was being considered an ARR proposal being put at 38.88%, he said.
Rao said that power charges for agriculture were not being increased. He also said that the EV charging hike proposals were not accepted.
He added that instructions were given for expansion to full level, the Smart Grid in the Jeedimetla area in the city.
