Former minister Mareppa, on Friday, condemned the depiction of Rayalaseema region in poor light in the film '
Rakta Charitra-I', which was released earlier in the day.
Talking to media persons in secretariat premises, Mareppa pointed out that there were many objectionable scenes in the film.
Stating that the region was well known for having produced veterans like former chief ministers Kota Vijayabhaskar Reddy, YS Rajasekhara Reddy and others, he said that it was not reasonable to brand a particular and specific character in a villainous role.
The former minister stated that this was against all norms of culture and etiquettes and appealed to the film director Ram Gopal Verma to desist from directing such films highlighting violence coupled with bloodshed.
Mareppa advised to for a good message or theme instead to be portrayed on the silver screen.
When asked why the film had escaped the censor scissors, the former minister replied that the censor board snipped vulgar and gory scenes only.
Mareppa, however, refused to reply when asked if he favoured banning the film.
