Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C V Anand today likened policing to a Test cricket match, emphasizing its demanding and long-term nature.
He made the remarks during the passing-out parade of newly recruited police constables held in Hyderabad.
Anand was the chief guest at the event, where he received the guard of honour from 747 constables.
Speaking on the occasion, he mentioned that 1,128 personnel had been allocated to the Hyderabad police department for training. "Of these, 747 have successfully completed their passing-out parade today," he said.
He urged the newly-trained constables to approach their duties with kindness and integrity while upholding the Constitution. "Police work is about protecting the lives of the people. It comes with its share of ups and downs, and honesty and fairness are paramount," he said.
Anand also advised the young recruits to maintain physical fitness and avoid addictions, particularly alcohol. "I appeal to the police to steer clear of drinking and other vices. Staying physically fit is essential. I have maintained my fitness all through my 33-year career, and can still wear the uniform I wore at my passing out parade 30 years ago," he said with pride.
He concluded by encouraging the constables to remain dedicated to their duties and to uphold the values of the police force throughout their careers.
