BRS working president K T Rama Rao today claimed that the affection of the people towards former CM K Chandrashekar Rao had remained intact even after losing the elections.
He said even those who voted for the Congress were unhappy that KCR had not become the CM.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting for the Zaheerabad Lok Sabha seat election held at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said, "We have won 39 of out of the 119 Assembly seats even this time, and that is not a small number - we won one-third of the seats."
Analyzing the reasons for the BRS' loss, he said that the Dalit Bandhu resulted in the rest of the communities not voting for the BRS. He said that the impact of the Bandhu schemes had in general been felt on the BRS, and lamented that society had become such that people got jealous if they did not get help but others did.
"There is also a strong impression that it would have been better if the candidates had been changed in the Assembly elections. We will not allow such mistakes to happen in the Lok Sabha elections," he said.
KTR however said that the BRS was still the party most associated with Telangana. He recalled that in the past the rulers of united AP had banned even the word Telangana, and that the BRS was the only party which fought for Telangana. "If the BRS is not strong, the rest of the parties are still ready to wipe out the word Telangana," he said.
He also claimed that within a month itself the Congress government had gotten discredited, and that the Congress MLAs had already started to face protests from the people. He accused the Congress government of trying to escape implementing its promises by painting the picture of a debt trap.
KTR said that there would be a three-way fight in the Lok Sabha elections, and that the situation would be in their favour due to sympathy for KCR and factions alienated from the Congress paving the way for the BRS' victory. He criticized the Congress government for cancelling the schemes brought in by the BRS, and said that that would work in the BRS' favour too. He also said that the BRS would take Congress' "420 promises" to the people widely and increase the pressure on the Congress for their implementation.
He expressed confidence that the BRS would definitely win the Zaheerabad Lok Sabha seat in the next elections.
