During the Collectors' Conference today, the pension for single women and KCR Kits schemes came up for a detailed discussion.
The CM K Chandrashekar Rao said that giving pensions to single women should be treated as a priority item in the districts.
"It is critical to identify all the deserving single women. By their getting pensions, not only do the beneficiary women benefit, all those supporting them will feel happy. Identifying single women in villages is comparatively easier than in urban areas. How to identify them, I leave to the discretion of the Collectors," he said.
The scheme would be formally launched on June 2, 2017 - the state formation day - he said.
The CM also announced that the KCR Kits Scheme would also be formally launched on June 2.
He explained that the idea behind giving KCR Kits was to offer financial assistance to and help poor pregnant women during the pre- and post-natal stages. The scheme was conceived after a team of officers studied a similar scheme in vogue in Tamil Nadu, he said.
"According to data, 6.5 lakh deliveries are taking place in Telangana. Institutional deliveries should increase through the KCR Kits Scheme," the CM said.
