Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today announced a Rs 6,000 salary to Asha workers.
At a meeting with some Asha workers at Pragathi Bhavan today, KCR discussed the formers' issues and offered some sops. He announced Rs 6,000 honorarium salaries hereafter on a regular basis. He also said that Asha workers would be given priority in the appointment of ANMs in the state, and asked the officials to appoint trained Asha workers as ANMs to offer better and improved health services in rural areas.
Though the Asha workers and ANMs came under the central government, which cut funds for them recently, the state government was offering them better salaries, he claimed.
The Chief Minister said that it was his goal that the lives of Asha workers and ANMs change for the better. The government would increase the incentives for Asha workers, so that they lived with self-respect and did not get into bonded labour, he promised.
